ransmissions From the Living Force Campaign
The Force Is Strong in This Con

By Jae Walker
Living Force Campaign Director

The Living Force Campaign made a strong showing at the 2001 Gen Con Game Fair. We seated 258 individual players, each of whom played an average of two slots of Living Force. We ran 15 seven-player tables of Head in the Clouds (and could have run four more if we'd had the judges - our profound regrets to those who could not play), 18 tables of Clouded Paths (most of them seven-player tables), and 31 tables of Into the Storm Clouds over three slots. Special appreciation goes out to the four Living Death judges who came over to run Living Force in slot 5 (Clouded Paths) when they were released. We couldn't have done it without all of the judges, and our gratitude is boundless.

(By the way, if you're a judge who "ate" Into the Storm Clouds - in other words, if you ran it without a chance to play it first -- please contact me.)

Blown Away
Blown Away, the Living Force Interactive, hosted more than 100 players as the heroes crash-landed in the midst of the year's biggest blowout party - the SoroSuub Anniversary celebration. As a radiation storm swept over the cloud city of Tolea Biqua, the city's shields faltered, and it was up to the heroes of Cularin to fix it before everyone was blown away . . .

The entertainment included a screaming match between SoroSuub's Miim Te'Suub (histrionically played by Adam Norman) and the Metatheran Cartel's Thurm Loogg (ingratiatingly played by August Hahn). It seems that Miim Te'Suub took offense to the Cartel overlaying his annual speech with their logo. Diplomats and Jedi Consulars were called into service to prevent bloodshed and mayhem.

Handsome pilot and man-about-Cularin Xav Verivax (dashingly played by Sean Hanlin) cut a swath through the ladies in the crowd, several of whom are reportedly making wedding plans . . .

In addition to the usual suspects (the Jedi Academy, Force Adept Apprentices, the Republic Embassy, Vanster Enan's Original Cantina and Joh's Droid Shop), Major Kurth San of the Thaereian military was on hand to assess the level of interest in the Cularin system, with an eye toward possible recruitment. The neighboring system of Thaere has long maintained a military presence in Cularin, which has no military of its own. The Information Station at the party was a "feeler" station, meant to see whether Cularin's heroes were interested in enrolling. Interest was tremendous, and the Major was seen smiling as he left Tolea Biqua.

Another new face was "Dewback" Shanahan (drawlingly played by Scott Lahna), a fringer willing to arrange favors for a drink and a good story.

At the end of it all, SoroSuub presented one of the pilots with The Sivulliq, a prototype SoroSuub RK-720 Light Freighter, in appreciation for his skillful piloting.
